Which strip is right for me?
| Strip | How it mounts | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Magnetic SnoStrip | Magnets. On and off in seconds. | Skis and snowboards on any car with a magnetic body. |
| Adhesive SnoStrip | Automotive adhesive. Stays on year-round. | Skis and snowboards on cars that aren't magnetic (aluminum, plastic). |
| Suction Cup RigStrip | Locking suction cup with a keyed release. | Non-magnetic vehicles, windows and boats. Mount once and leave it on. |
| SunStrip | Magnets. On and off in seconds. | Fishing rods, bike handlebars, paddles and other summer gear. |
Is my car magnetic?
Most cars are. The easiest test: stick a fridge magnet where you plan to mount the strip. If it holds, our magnetic strips will too.
Common exceptions include the Tesla Model S, newer Ford F-150s and Audi Q-series. Areas that have had body work may also stop being magnetic.
Car not magnetic? Go with the Adhesive SnoStrip or the Suction Cup RigStrip.
Magnetic SnoStrip
How big is it?
16" long × 1.5" wide × 1.5" thick.
How do I take it off?
Pull slowly from one end. The magnets release easily and leave no residue.
Adhesive SnoStrip
Will it stay on while I'm driving?
Yes, at any speed and in any weather. It even stays on through an automated car wash.
How big is it?
16" long × 1.5" wide × 1.5" thick.
How do I install it?
- Let the strip come to room temperature.
- Clean and dry a 16" × 1.5" area on your car.
- Peel the cover off the adhesive.
- Press the strip onto the paint and hold firm pressure along its full length.
Don't apply it to: chipped, dirty or wet paint, gas caps, windows, or sharply curved surfaces.
Can I remove it later? Will it leave residue?
Yes. It's made to stay on year-round, but it peels off when you want it gone. The adhesive is designed for cars and normally comes off clean. If any residue remains, an automotive adhesive remover will take care of it.
Suction Cup RigStrip
What can I mount it on?
Almost any clean, smooth surface that's flat or gently curved: aluminum and other non-magnetic body panels, windows, and fiberglass boats.
Not for: textured plastic, chipped paint, or tightly curved surfaces.
How do I set it up?
- Clean and dry the spot where it will go.
- Hold the RigStrip level against the surface.
- Press the blue button until the red line is covered.
- Lock the mount.
Will it stay on while I'm driving?
Yes. Once it's locked, it's built to stay on full-time, through weather, road trips and the car wash. Check that it's locked before each trip.
What is Remora Lock Technology™?
It's the locking suction system that holds the RigStrip in place. Once it's locked, the mount only releases with its key, so nobody can walk off with it.
How do I take it off?
Unlock it with the release key and the suction lets go. It leaves no residue.
What can it hold?
Skis, snowboards, fishing rods, paddles, trekking poles, rifles and bikes. Anything you'd lean against your car.
How big is it?
16⅝" long × 3½" wide × 5⅞" tall, including the suction area. It weighs 2 lb 2.4 oz.
SunStrip
How big is it?
9.5" long × 1.5" wide × 1.5" thick.
How do I take it off?
Just pull. The magnets are strong, but they release cleanly.
Fishing rods
Does it fit all rods?
Yes. If a guide gets in the way, turn the rod 90 degrees and it will drop in.
How many rods can one SunStrip hold?
Our record is 7. Beat it and send us a photo!
Bikes
Does it fit all handlebars?
It holds both flat bars and road (drop) bars. For drop bars, slide the brake lever into the outermost groove.
Does it work on a hill?
Only on very slight slopes (5° or less). With four sides of your car to choose from, you can almost always find a level spot.
Can I work on my bike while it's in the SunStrip?
Absolutely. Pump tires, adjust suspension or clean your chain without hauling out a bike stand.
Hunting
Will it hold a rifle or shotgun?
It holds barrels up to the diameter of a 12-gauge.
Never lean a loaded firearm against the SunStrip.
General
What else can I lean on my strips?
Paddles, trekking poles, tools and more. Anything you'd normally lean against your car, minus the scratches and the gear sliding to the ground.
Why hasn't this always existed?
We wondered the same thing after a brand-new pair of skis slid off the car and onto the asphalt at Keystone. So we built it.
